Online Course -
Motivate Healthy Habits:
Help Yourself and
Your Health Buddy
Invite a family member or friend to take the course with you. You can both select any behavior to work on. Be health buddies to one another. Work on doing Tasks A-E listed below.
Working in online small groups, you can also learn from others about the challenge of changing behavior. An e-health guide will assist you and your group in facilitating the learning process.
Task A-Clarify Your Issues about Change
Task B-Lower Your Resistance
Task C-Enhance Your Motivation
Task D-Makes Plan for Change
Task E-Keeping Working on Change
Keep an online journal of your path to change.
Share your learning experiences in an online group.
Review your journal as you
do the course and download it for further
reflection. Your online journal is kept
private from other users. (You are not
expected to share anything that you feel
is confidential or personal). Use the
discussion board to share your learning
experiences and give feedback to one another,
ask questions, get support and exchange
ideas. Your e-health guide can also provide
you with individual guidance.
Assess the helpfulness of the learning exercises and the impact of doing Tasks A-D on changing your motivational scores and behavior outcomes. After completing Task D, you can share what you have learned from this online course, your health buddy, your online group and your e-health guide. This group sharing process can prepare you for Task E-exploring in more depth specific issues that are important to you, such as high emotional resistance, lack of sustained motivation, competing priorities, lack of energy, conflicting motives, lack of confidence and/or ability.
